Barihunk Michael Mayes, who has emerged as one of the most compelling performers in opera, was recently featured in the Huffington Post. He talks about his love for performing contemporary opera (especially the works of Jake Heggie), his career and his desire to sing more Verdi.
Mayes was our original Bari-Chunk to Bari-Hunk feature and it inspired numerous singers to hit the gym, improve their stamina, boost their self-esteem, improve their performances and therefore benefit their careers. The impact he's had on singers and the art form is immeasurable. A Michael Mayes performance is an event. He's a singer who gives a 110% every night and redefined the role of Joseph de Rocher in Heggie's Dead Man Walking.
