Cast Change: Seth Carico steps in for Alin Anca as Panthée

Seth Carico as Kassandre
American bass-barihunk Seth Carico will be stepping in for Alin Anca as Panthée on Saturday, January 28th at the Staatsoper Hamburg. The all-star cast led by conductor Kent Nagano also includes Catherine Naglestad as Cassandre and Torsten Kerl as Enée. Carico performed the role in Berlin in 2014 with a cast that included Ildiko Komlosi as Cassandre, Roberto Alagna as Enée, Markus Brück as Chorébe and Joel Prieto as Iopas. Tickets for the January 28th performance are available online.

Carico has been based at the Deutsche Oper Berlin since 2010, where last season he sang Leporello in Don Giovanni, Doctor Kolenatý in The Makropulos Affair, the Police Commissioner in Der Rosenkavalier, Don Pedro in Vasco da Gama, and Klingsor in Parsifal

Amazingly, Carico has also performed the epic role of Kassandre (Cassandre), King Priam's daughter and prophetess, albeit ) in Iannis Xenakis'Oresteia at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, for which he received rave reviews. His portrayal was chosen from among 5,000 performances for "Best Singing Performer in a Musical Production" by the Deutsche Theaterpreis DER FAUST.

Carico is currently appearing as Biterolf in Wagner's Tannhäuser at the Deutsche Oper Berlin under the baton of Donald Runnicles. The cast includes Ante Jerkunica as Landgraf Hermann, James Rutherford as Wolfram, Attilio Glaser as Walther, Camilla Nylund as Venus/Elisabeth, and Peter Seiffert and Stephen Gould in the title role.
